Chestnut poles

Sustainably produced rustic poles

Our chestnut poles are harvested locally from ancient coppice woodland which is on a 15-year rotation (the amount of time it takes for them to grow back from the original stool). Once the stool is cut the tree produces multiple stems in the spring which can grow as much as two meters in the first year. This traditional Coppice management provides a sustainable timber which does not require chemical treatment. The Coppice woodland provides habitat for a range of flora and fauna, as each ‘coop’ is Coppiced, in turn, differing light levels reach the woodland floor encouraging wildlife and sustaining a important historical landscape.

Poles are supplied with bark on - you can have them peeled and/or pointed for an additional cost.

Half round poles are also available to order at 3/4 of the round price.
